Discover the Flavors of Tasty Trinidadian Treats: Pholourie.


What you'll need:

  • 1tsp Active Dry Yeast.

  • 1/4c Warm Water.

  • 2cups All Purpose Flour.

  • 1tsp Salt.

  • 1tsp Brown Sugar.

  • 1/4 to 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder.

  • 1/4tsp Cumin Coriander Powder.

  • 1 clove Minced Garlic.

  • Dash of Allspice.

  • Dash of Thyme.

  • Drop of Pepper Sauce.

  • 3/4cup to 1 1/2cup of Warm Water.


Instructions:

  1. Add 1/4 cup to 1tsp of yeast and let it sit for 5 minutes.

  2. Sift the flour and add the sugar, turmeric, cumin coriander, garlic, allspice, thyme, pepper sauce.

  3. Mix together and add some more turmeric powder if you'd like.

  4. Slowly add the warm water until you get a very sticky dough.

  5. Cover the dough and let the dough rest for 30 minutes.

  6. Heat up vegetable oil.

  7. Once the oil is hot, slowly add about a tablespoon size of dough to the oil.

  8. Fry for about 5 minutes, until golden brown. Don't over-fry, you don't want it hard and crispy.

  9. Eet Smakelijk.
